Rushaga sector has several gorilla families which include Nshongi, Mishaya, Busingye, Kahungye and Bweza.

Gorilla Close Up Lodge

Bathroom Amenities

All bathroom amenities are provided, and rooms have a safe, wardrobe hanging space, mosquito nets, bedside lamps and plug points. Some of the rooms have a stand-alone bath with shower. The usage of basket reeds to thatch its ceiling is inspired by a traditional architectural style of the Bakiga tribe that dates back to prehistoric times. Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge is a hidden gem in southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The lodge is a new facility in the Kisoro managed by the Uganda Cultural Lodges. The Lodge is in the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, approximately 1793m above sea level, and where the habituated Rushaga and Nkuringo gorilla groups are to be found. With breathtaking views over Lake Mulehe there are many other activities on offer such as hiking in the Virungas, boat trips on Lake Mulehe or Lake Mutanda, village walks, forest walks and golden monkey trekking at Mgahinga National Park.

Bweza Gorilla Lodge

Bweza Gorilla Lodge is one of the lodges where guests can experience original gorilla trekking adventure with the ultimate comfort. Bweza Gorilla Lodge sits at the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a primeval forest and lush jungle region in south west Uganda.

Located a 5minute walk from the briefing point for trekking makes the lodge a sought after lodge for gorilla tracking safaris. There are plenty of activities on offer, which include visit to the Batwa pygmies, mountain biking, guided community walks and forest walks to the Bayenda Falls.

Bweza Gorilla Lodge is on the boundary line of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, close to the starting point of trekking to the gorillas. The area is in the Kisoro region in south-west Uganda. Bweza Gorilla Lodge is in a remote area and the journey to paradise is long, but eye-opening and scenic. The quickest route is by air to the Kisoro airstrip.

Banana and guava trees cocoon the 5 bedroomed lodge, and in the distance there are views of the forest jungle with its ancient canopy of trees decorating the lofty hills. The entrance to the lodge is warm and welcoming. Bold colours from indigenous flora greet you upon arrival, leaving a lasting first impression. Accommodation

The main lodge area has the dining room, a relaxation lounge, spa treatment room and a quaint nook where the bar is situated. The remote lodge comprises 5 individual rooms (sleeping 10 in total) each with private wooden balconies overlooking the wilderness. The architecture and decor is comfortable, and all amenities from home are provided.

Rooms have solar-powered lighting, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and flush toilets. Each unit is designed to look like stand-alone log cabins that blend in with the surrounding rainforest, ensuring that the lodge does not look out of place in its wild surrounds. Cobbled paths with wooden bannisters join the well-appointed rooms, each of which have been named after individual gorillas or gorilla tribes. Some of the units come with a deep-set standalone bath and a fireplace.

Lodge Activities

There are plenty of activities and things to do in the area, all of which can be arranged on site. Guests can choose between the full day gorilla conservation experiences or the popular gorilla trekking. Gorilla Lodge is child-friendly, but kids aren’t allowed to trek with the gorillas – babysitting facilities are available. There are also massage and spa treatments available on request.
