The Serena Mountain Lodge /Tree hotel is set on the slopes of snow-capped Mount Kenya., ringed by a dense rain forest that comes alive at dusk with the myriad sounds of creatures all sizes. Mountain Lodge rightfully boasts of having the highest record of animal visits and sightings in the area.
Accommodation at the Serena Mountain Lodge
The lodge offers accommodation in 42 timber-built, cabin-styled rooms. Each of these rooms has its own luxury en-suite bathroom and a private balcony overlooking the water hole. The décor, which echoes the Kikuyu culture, features hand-woven wall hangings, soft lighting and cosily-warm soft furnishings.
Hot-water bottles are provided at night. Smoking is not permitted within the lodge, due to the fact that it is of timber construction but a smoker’s area is provided on the roof-top terrace.
All rooms are en-suite with spacious verandahs, and the main areas of the Lodge overlook an illuminated waterhole.
Activities at the Serena Mountain Lodge
Game viewing throughout the evening and night includes elephant, buffalo, rhino, giant forest hog, water buck, and maybe leopard and lion.
A specially constructed bunker affords close-up views of the game at the waterhole and is connected to the lodge by a short tunnel.
Guided nature walks through the forest enable you to experience nature close up, and offers a brief on historical aspects of Mount Kenya and the area. The majestic rocky peaks of Mount Kenya constantly tower over the scene.
