Wildlife veterinarian, Dr Andre Charles Uys has appeared in the Musina Magistrates Court on charges related to illegal rhino activities.
The announcement was made in Pretoria on Friday January 21 by the CEO of South African National Parks (SANParks), Dr David Mabunda.
According to SANParks, the veterinarian was arrested through the efforts of the National Wildlife Crime Reaction Unit, led by the Hawks. He has been charged for the illegal dehorning of 15 rhinos.
It is believed that Uys’s activities took place in the Maremani Game Reserve in Limpopo Province. After appearing before the court, he has since been released on bail of R10 000. The case has been postponed until March 18.
