Recently the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority contributed two black rhino to be relocated to designated reserves as part of an initiative to ensure that the populations of endangered species are re-established in suitable private and national reserves.
Seeing that no vehicles are allowed in the iSimangaliso wilderness area, the method with the least impact lead to the rhinos being airlifted with a “Superhuey”. From the captured site to the loading area, the sedated rhinos were flown over the cooler ocean. If you were one of the fortunate you might have been whale and rhino watching at the same time.
